QAR Currency Converter

Convert Qatar Riyal to and from 22 major currencies - pegged to USD at 3.6725 since 1997, with live API rates layered on top.

How QAR rates work

Since November 1997 Qatar Riyal has been pegged to the US Dollar at 3.6725 QAR per USD. Most Qatar currencies follow the same pattern - the Saudi Riyal, Qatari Riyal, Bahraini Dinar and Omani Rial all peg to the dollar. The Kuwaiti Dinar pegs to a basket of currencies and floats slightly.

This converter pulls live rates from a public API; if the API is unreachable it falls back to indicative rates anchored to the QAR-USD peg.

Worked example

QAR 1,000 at the standard peg rate equals USD 272.29. Going the other way, USD 1,000 equals QAR 3,672.50. Bank quotes typically include a 2-3% spread on top of these mid-market figures.

Quick formulas

QAR → currency: amount ÷ (QAR per unit of currency).
Currency → QAR: amount × (QAR per unit of currency).
USD peg: 1 USD = 3.6725 QAR (since 1997).
